FRIENDS Reunion: Comeback Of Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, Phoebe Not Happening Soon; Makers Eye Fall 2020 For The Release
Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe - well these names are more than enough to create excitement among the fans of the sitcom, FRIENDS. The year 2020 got a big news for the fans of this sitcom with the makers announcing the reunion of these 6 onscreen characters’, followed by a confirmation from the cast of the show as well. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc in the lead roles, FRIENDS entertained the audience to the core.

Hence, when the news of the FRIENDS REUNION hit the internet, fans started eagerly waiting for it. However, with COVID-19 pandemic, the shoot of this reunion couldn’t hit the floor. The makers were scheduled to make Summer 2020 memorable by releasing this reunion in May 2020, but it seems like the fans will have to wait a little longer. As per reports in Variety, the special episode of this sitcom was scheduled to run on HBO MAX and was set to go live on May 27.

Bob Greenblatt, chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer, confirmed that the fans will need to wait a little longer now keeping in mind the lockdown. He also mentioned about seeing fall 2020 an apt window to release the reunion.

Bob Greenblatt said, “At first we thought, shows will be delayed for a month or two at the most, and now it seems like it’s going to be far longer than that. We’re holding out for being able to get this special done hopefully by the end of the summer, if the stars align and hopefully we can get back into production. We do think there’s a value to having a big, raucous live audience to experience these six great friends coming back together and we didn’t want to just suddenly do it on a web call with, you know, six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms.” ALSO READ: Monica Geller Courteney Cox Has Started Binge-Watching FRIENDS Again As She Doesn't Remember It At All; Excuse Me, What?

Bob Greenblatt also feels shooting it conventional way would be much impactful over virtual one. “But at the moment, we’re trying to look to the future and get this thing done in a more conventional way, and I think it’s worth waiting for. We would have loved to have had it on [HBO Max on] Day One, but at the same time, if we can get it launched in the fall, I think it’ll be something that we can have the audience really looking forward to as well.” ALSO READ: FRIENDS: Did You Know Monica Courteney Cox Suffered A Miscarriage When Rachel Jennifer Aniston Gave Birth In The Sitcom?
